Thieves are grabbing up big paydays in their newest wire fraud schemes. A lot of buyers wire their funds to the title company to prepare for closing. Hackers gain access to any computer involved in the real estate transaction. They then send an official looking email instructing the buyer to wire their funds to the thief. Poof! It's gone. To help protect against this sort of scam, buyers should call the title company to confirm the wiring instructions BEFORE they send their hard earned money.
