Will the newly passed tax law cause home prices to decline?
Good news. Colorado is not a high tax state on either the east coast or the west coast. Lawrence Yun, chief economist for National Association of Realtors, is predicting about a 5% home price decline for high tax states on both coasts. This is because of two new rules in the new tax law that cap both the property tax deduction and the mortgage interest deduction. Yun estimates that 95% of the country will NOT be impacted by those changes.

But as a buyer, you might like to see home prices decline 5% :-) However, he is indicating that he expects interest rates to rise next year due to anticipation of a higher deficit.
