Some buyers absolutely don't want to live in an HOA community; some request neighborhoods with HOAs. Why the difference. There are pros and cons to HOAs - like everything.

Pro - HOA's maintain common area
Con - You have to pay recurring HOA fees
Pro - HOA helps keep uniformity
Con- Lots of red tape
Pro- HOA's mediate problems for you
