Considering a New Construction Home?

Are you thinking about exploring the option of a new build home?

The idea of a brand new home, that has never been lived in before, can be an appealing thought. The idea of choosing some details in your new home to personalize it is also very exciting. Where the builder is in the building process will dictate what, if any details, you get to choose. But if you are buying a home that is being built from scratch ("dirt start"), you'll most likely get to pick countertops, cabinets, flooring, options like a fireplace, a loft instead of an extra bedroom, a finished or unfinished basement, maybe a covered patio, appliance package, which lot, which floor plan, etc.

Some builders have a few homes that are already finished or close to being finished. Those homes are normally homes that other buyers were previously Under Contract to purchase - something along the line happened to cause those plans to fall thru - frequently that buyer's financing falls thru. Those homes are called "inventory homes".

Be sure to get your realtor involved early. Some builders will not let your realtor represent your best interests if you have already visited their office one or more times without your realtor.
